In a lot of ways Riley was the easiest character to identify with in the series. She was the only one that found the ball to be a drag, that didn't want to dress up in fancy clothes or wear heels, which I can certainly identify with. Especially around the holidays, when I first starting writing the books, the time of year when you have to do a lot you might not want to, for the holiday season or the family.
But probably the reason why this book was the first one written had nothing to do with Riley at all, but it was because of her guys. Of all the guys in the series, their motivation and devotion to Riley was easiest to understand. They loved Riley before the first word was written on the first page. They'd always loved Riley. She was the love of their lives since they were seven years old, they just didn't know it yet. Their friendship, their devotion to each other is so crystal clear I couldn't turn away from it. No matter which of the other ladies were talking to me. Those guys forced me to stay focused on them, to keep telling their story, demanding I give Riley the happily ever after she deserved. Which only made me love them more.
