Q. What was your inspiration for the story?
A. The idea for this story came from my own life. I went to a meeting for my day job. I'm not a big fan of these meetings, how Serena feels about these meetings is exactlly how I feel, and during all the lengthy presentations I couldn't help my mind from wandering. I thought about all the people I meet and talk to at the meeting, but never talk to on a regular basis, and I thought about how this could be the place you meet up with someone for a secret rendevous every year, a time when you could explore your limits in a controlled timed environment. Q. Are the characters based off anyone specifically?
A. The actual character traits of these two are not based off anybody in particular, but not knowing any billionaries myself, I did need a little inspiration for that aspect of Richard. At the time I was writing this story Virgin had just released their new airline division, and their commericals were playing constantly on TV. That's why the company is an airline and all the red in the story. And the character is modelled someone on Richard Branson, who I do think is one of the most fun billionaries out there. Though he doesn't seem like a Dom like my Richard is.
As far as Serena, I wanted her to be nerdy and no the typical woman you would see with a billioniare, so I thought why not an engineer. Someone who more career focused, not as political. And my mother is an engineer, not for an airline, so that made getting the engineering details much easier.
